2 Weeks to go....
I'm very excited - Many of you will know that for many years I've had an interest in buses.
My specific interests are in maps and timetables but I can't resist a trip down nostalgia lane and a chance to travel on and photograph some of the countries most preserved buses.
In two weeks time my chance will be back yet again with the annual Cobham Bus Rally - which this year is held at the Longcross Qinetiq Test Track at Chobham Common on 1st April.
This year is extra special because my friend Ben will be accompanying me on London`s most infrequent bus which serves this special annual event.

The nearest rail station for the event is Woking - where special route 474 runs every few minutes to and from the event.
Last year it was a treat I got to ride on a type of bus that left London many moons ago and has become my favourite type of bus - the Leyland Titan.
The Titan started to be phased out in the mid to late 80`s in favour of the Leyland Olympian.
However, Like the Routemaster the Titan just refused to go out quietly and it survived in service in London until 19th June 2003 when T1018 was the last Titan to run in London on route 40 - finally finishing at 20:38 in Aldgate Station.
The Titan is unusual as it was the only other type of bus commonly used in London with 2 person operation - so a Titan could replace an RM or an RT with a driver and conductor.
Last Year the event had both the original Titans - T1 and T2 but for whatever reason T1 managed to evade me all day long so i'm hoping its their this year!!!
How to recognise a Titan?
from behind :- the bus has a square single window
from the side :- Single front entry door (often Yellow) - not dual door like the Olympian but Dual exit door
from the front :- distinctive yellow Drivers upper deck view mirror
from the inside :- the yellow, black, orange checked seats and spiral staircase - compared to the square case on the Olympians.
Here is a pic of the elusive Titan T1 from Cobham last year....

Well I can't wait! I don't know if this kind of event interests anyone.. but I'll put pics up anyway :)
Hugs to all
Chris
